3on3 Spring Hockey rules

(non-contact)

1. All Players must wear standard CSA approved equipment, including neck guards and mouth guards.

2. Any penalty called shall result in a penalty shot. Player starts with puck at the offensive blue line, with all other players located behind the center ice red line. Official will blow a whistle, and shooter goes in for the shot and is chased by players at the red line.  Puck is in play immediately after the shot has been taken.

3. All 2 (TWO) periods shall be 24 (Twenty-four) minutes in length, running time.

4. After a goal is scored the team that scored MUST clear the offensive zone and wait near the blue line for the other team to bring out the puck.

5. Any blatant off sides will result in the puck being turned over to the opponent…no face-off occurs, however. The official will signal to indicate a blatant offside.

6. Dump-ins are NOT ALLOWED. Players must learn to regroup in the neutral zone before proceeding on the attack. A dump-in results in the puck being retrieved by the opponent, with free exit from his/her zone up to the blue line.

7. One pass must be made after the red line when on the attack for a goal to count, with the exception of a breakaway, where a pass is not required. (This rule is called THE HOTDOG RULE)

8. No contact is allowed. No checking. No hits. No "rubbing players out of the play". Play the puck!

9. U9 and U11 divisions will have a buzzer every 1.5 minutes to signal a line change. Players can not come on the ice until ALL 3 players on the ice are back at their bench.

10. ABSOLUTELY NO YELLING AT GAME OFFICIAL(S). INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOUR WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!. (THIS MEANS PARENTS AND COACHES !)

And the most important rule of all, have FUN and develop your skills!
